Acclimatisation is an excuse to chill...

Hello all. We've just had three great acclimatisation days.

Sunday, Day 1: Arrived in Lhasa, as per previous post. Chilled like we've never chilled before. Met up with Sharyn and Jonesy of Tibet Wind Horse Adventures. Organised some bits and pieces.

Monday, Day 2: Went for a cool bike ride with Sharyn and Chris! First we went to a cool monastary (sp?) and watched the monks debate various theological issues. They clapped like crazy people, which is supposed to represent a "point of wisdom cutting through ignorance"... I wish we could understand what they were saying cos it was highly entertaining and vigorous debate. Here are some photos of the debating monks:

As you can see by the last photo, the debating was quite rigourous.

The rest of the ride took us around the outskirts of Lhasa and luckily it was pretty flat. Beautiful scenery of course, and lots of strange looks which I'm sure will become par for the course. Pretty buggered after.

Tuesday, Day 3:
Went kayaking for a half-day with Tibet Wind Horse Adventures... got mates' rates and had an awesome time paddling pretty continuous Grade 2-3 stuff. I rolled on the very first rapid (it was my first time in a kayak in over 2 years) which was like 10m downstream from the put-in! Luckily I rolled back up and after that I was fairly awake. I'm convinced the first rapid was the hardest (I'm sure the waves were above my head!) but Jen tells me stuff downstream was harder... go figure.

Absolutely knackered after the river trip, ready to sleep, but after coffee am ready to blog.

yongers out.
